Android-aktivismi: Google Maps -navigointi käyttöön Suomessa
Vuosien odottelun jälkeen Google ei ole vieläkään saanut aikaiseksi avata navigointia Suomessa, joten päätimme tehdä asialle jotain.
Päätimme saada viestin navigoinnin avaamisesta Suomeen kuulluksi ja pyydämmekin teitä, lukijoitamme, auttamaan tässä asiassa kolmella tavalla:
- Käy antamassa puhelimella tai tabletilla Google Mapsille haluamasi 1-3 tähden arvosana Android Marketissa ja laita palauteviestin sisällöksi ”Enable navigation in Finland”
- Jätä kommentti, jossa kerrot oman mielipiteesi ilmaisen navigoinnin puuttumisesta tämän artikkelin viestiketjuun, sillä viemme kommentit henkilökohtaisesti Googlen osastolle Barcelonan MWC-messuilla.
- Jaa tämä artikkeli suosimissasi sosiaalisen median palveluissa

Hey Google, please enable Navigation in Finland! Why Sweden has navigation but not us? It’s irritating because even my old Symbian phones have navigation (the only thing which they are better than android ;) )

Google maps misses key feature in Finland and is clearly unfinished!
- No navigation even though this is fully possible, artificial constrain that pisses me the hell off!
- Street names are often in swedish despite google having claimed to have fixed this, this issue has existed for years and google does nothing! nothing at all.

Google! Thank you for all things you have done! It’s great that we have Google Streetview in Finland. It’s great that I can use Google Translator to make this message for you (I’m not good in English). It’s great that you have data center in Hamina with water cooling system – maybe we can get now faster searches or something.
But Google! You have forget something very important. There isn’t Google Maps Navigation in Finland. We know Google Navigation is great and we really need navigation as much as other countries!

Google Maps is a brilliant app. Combined with the labs feature to pre-cache selected areas it’s a killer travel helper. But, because of a missing crucial feature it isn’t a killer travel helper in Finland; turn by turn navigation is not available. I can search for directions and follow the plotted route on the map as I go, but I will not be given instructions. This is a real drag because this forces me to stop often, as it is impossible to see the tiny map interface when riding my bike. Please, please enable turn by turn navigation in Finland.
Navigation is very basic functionality in smart phones nowadays. All other mobile operating systems than Android have it. Because this is missing, I might move to iPhone, which has free navigation in Finland according to what I have heard.

Enable navigation in Finland! I was devastated when I started to use my HTC-phone and realized that navigation that I used frequently with my Nokia-phone, was no longer possible. This is not progress. As you know how to create excellent service to your users, kindly enable navigation service to your Finnish users.

I don´t have a separate navigator, because I have a superior android phone. It has a great Google Maps application with navigation. I live in Finland.. Wait. It doesn´t work here in Finland, in between Sweden and Russia where it´s enabled. What?!
Google having the whole world mapped but still can’t provide us with navigation. Nice to own Google phone without Google navigation.

Why do I have to use an external navigation unit in my car even better is built into my Android phone. Sweden got it and Russians got theirs. It’s not an excuse that Finnish language speech recognition is not more difficult to develope than the Russian or Swedish. You’ll have to start from Finland if you are going to defeat the Nokia on it’s own soil.

Se meinaa aika varmasti sitä ettei puoletkaan viestin kirjoittajista ole tajunneet laittaa sitä sinne missä sillä on merkitystä… Luulisi hoksottimien jo kertovan jotain kun viestissä vielä puhutaan tähtiluokituksista joita täällä ei anneta… :D

Voi olla että joidenkin kommentti on pelkästään “Enable navigation in finland”.
I currently have an Android Google-smartphone from Samsung and I have been very pleased with it so far. The only problem is, that I like to make alot of bike riders and drive a motorcycle, so I bought a holder for the handlebars, where my phone fits. Shamefully, only after buying it, I noticed that my phone’s Google maps did not support navigation in my country, even though the brochure clearly said it had navigation via Google Maps. It was a slight let down and forced me to use another navigation-program, that was laggy and took massive amounts of space on my phone. I was laughed at by my mates with Nokias and those plastic-p.o.s. iPhones, whose phones had navigation. I was really disappointed and damned you to oblivion for it, yet I’ve stayed faithful to Google’s services for all this time. Why? You are the best, most ethical and user friendly company I have had to deal with. With navigation here in Finland, you would be, the most complete and utterly awesome company and the leading provider in different services. You are not yet complete. Want more support, want more money, want more fame and recognision? Make your service complete.
You should also give us navigation!

You get free and good working navigation with 100€ priced Nokia phone. Then you buy a 500€ Android phone and all you get is Google Maps without navigation. This is madness! Madness? THIS IS ANDROID!

You’d think that for 500€ you’d get a phone with navigation, but apparently that is not the case here. You’ve added navigation support to many other countries, why not Finland?

It is a shame that navigation is not possible here in Finland with Google maps. I think enabling it would make a lot of people very happy.

Nokia Maps is free and available for a quite some time now, so it’s pity Android doesn’t have anything “native” application. That’s why I prefer Nokia 5230 in some occasions.

Please enable navigation in Finland also. It’s pretty hazard that currently Google encourages to download and install hacked version of Maps/Navigation which enables the navigation. Or is there some secret deals between companies? ;)
